Mini Urban Outfitters cosmetic haul.

Harrow everyone!!! My package from Urban Outfitters has finally arrived a week ago! It's actually my second time ordering from them because they carry quite a broad range of cosmetics line. Shipping fee to Brunei costs USD30 and is flat. So I tend to actually wait for my own "wish-list" to grow longer and buy most, if not all, once and for all in order to make fee worth its cost.

Below are pictures of the goodies I ordered this time around! Please excuse the bad lighting and (possibly) poor pictures. I was recently given a Canon PowerShot N to try out and I'm still figuring out how to use it. Is it just me or does the iPhone 5S really you to take good pictures? Anyway, here go!

BH Cosmetics Eyes On The 60's eyeshadow palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Chocolate
Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW™ Pomade in Ebony

3 Concept Eyes/3CE Creamy Waterproof Eyeliner in Moulin Rouge

NYX Cosmetics Butter Gloss in Red Velvet
Nyx Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream (my fifth shade!) in Zurich

I'm so excited to try these out! I've also ordered a bunch of stuff from BH Cosmetics' official website a fortnight ago and I cannot contain my excitement because the Eyes On The 60's palette alone looks freakin' amazeballs!

Have a great weekend ahead and Selamat Hari Raya!

Lime Crime.

I think Lime Crime has got to be one of the few cosmetic lines that offer the best packagings, ever. A pair of unicorns as a logo? Yup, a pair of unicorns. Last month I placed an order on Lime Crime's official website (click here!) and it arrived Brunei Darussalam, where I reside, a week ago. The products are packaged nicely in a very pretty box, as seen below.

I ordered mainly lip products because they are highly-raved about on YouTube and Instagram! Here's the breakdown:

Carousel Gloss in Cherry On Top

Velvetines in Red Velvet

Velvetines in Wicked

Opague Lipstick in Centrifuschia

Will be doing a separate blogpost featuring these babies soon! Watch this space :)

Review: Sleek Makeup's Bare Skin Foundation

Harrow pretty earthlings!

A few weeks ago I ordered some goodies from Sleek Makeup and one of the products was their new Bare Skin Foundation (link here!). The shade that I picked was Bamboo as it looked like the perfect shade for me as seen from the website. The foundation is said to:

  • Provide light to medium, buildable coverage
  • Conceal blemishes and imperfections Innovative formula evens out skin tone
  • Have advanced moisturising properties help to keep skin nourished
  • Be light base feels weightless, allowing skin to breathe
  • Instantly enhance and illuminate skin

When I first got it, I was little bumped out because the foundation looked a little darker in real life than it is displayed digitally from the website. But then again, sometimes products do look different from time to time. Below are two swatches of the foundation which look quite different from the website.

Swatch taken from the website

My swatch without white light

My swatch with white light

Tonight, I'm going out for a dinner so I decided to give the foundation a try, though I thought it would be a little too dark for me. I opted for a light look and here are the products that I used.

  • Sleek Makeup Bare Skin Foundation
  • Garnier BB eye roll-on (to brighten under-eye circles)
  • Revlon The Lash Potion mascara
  • Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge (to apply both Bare Skin Foundation and BB eye roll-on)
I decided not to further use any products because I wanted to see how the foundation holds up. Surprisingly it matches my skin pretty well (despite from it looking a bit too dark from the bottle)! I really love the finish of it and it sure does feel very light-weight! Also, I do have normal to oily skin. Here's a picture of the foundation, without any powder-finishes or any filters.

Overall, I think the foundation lives up to what it's stated to deliver. And for only £8.99 at that! Definitely a good buy for a good price.

Hope this has helped! Gladyator signing out.

Selfish Silver Smoke

Hello pretty earthlings! I attended a dinner last Saturday, the 12th. I initially wanted to use the Naked 1 palette because it's my all time favourite, but I saw my unopened-still-in-its-plastic-bag NudeTude palette so I think I might as well make use of it!

From the title of this post, it needs no pointing-out that I made this eye look on the one shade that caught my eye, Selfish, a silvery taupe shade. Hence it is the main color of this look. The products I used are as below :D

Face/Base

  • Benefit the POREfessional primer
  • Yves Saint Lauret Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation
  • NYX Above & Beyond Coverage concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder
  • theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer as a highlighter
  • theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer as a bronzer
  • Sleek Blush by 3 in pink lemonade

Eyes

      Shadows:
  • Applied Selfish from the inner corners to the middle of eyelid, leaving the outer corner bare
  • Lightly tapped brush onto Serious and put it on the outer crease of eyelid, blending inwards together with Selfish
  • Used my ring finger to apply a little hint of Stand-offish on the middle of eyelid to give that extra pop and dimension so the entire eye look won't look too flat
      Rest of the eye area:
  • Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner in Black Ink
  • Shu Eumura eyelash curler
  • Revlon Lash Potion mascara
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony

Lips

  • NYX soft matte lip cream in Prague

Brushes

  • Foundation - Real Techniques buffing brush
  • Concealer - Real Techniques domed shadow brush
  • Powder - Real Techniques multitask brush
  • Eyeshadows - Real Techniques base shadow brush
  • Eyeliner - Real Techniques fine liner brush
  • Bronzer - Real Techniques contour brush

Final look!

I really liked how everything turned out in the end, nothing too fancy and yet nothing too..simple. I hope you had a great weekend and here's to another one!

Review - Em Cosmetic | pillow plush | cushiony lip balm | Berries.

Harrow pretty earthlings! I recently purchased Em Cosmetic's pillow plush cushiony lip balm from a dear friend. You can find her on Instagram with the name @lysfairebar (click for the link!), She carries other brands like 3CE, NARS and etcetera.

The shade that I got the lip balm in is Berries, a plum, deep purple shade. The packaging, like all the other Em products, is themed white (mostly).

It's buttery and smells like vanilla lollipop (nomZ). It is said on Em's official website that it can be applied as a normal lip balm, or as a primed/prepped canvas prior to applying your lipstick at a later time. So you actually get a moisturising lip balm...and a lip primer! Here are some swatches.

(L-R) One swipe, two and then three, with natural lighting.

With LED white lighting.

As can be seen above, it is somewhat..build-able. Build-able in a sense that one layer will give a subtle tint, whilst on the other hand, if you find the need to apply more or pack on more, you will end up with a more pigmented layer. You can either play it subtle or amp your look up by applying more layers!

There are other shades available on my friend's IG (@lysfairebar). Check them out if you're interested! Hope this post can help you in your decision :). Thank you for reading!

Bronzed.

Hi everyone! I attended a wedding last fortnight and I did a look which is always my all-time favourite, featuring my all-time favourite shade, brown! I think this will suit most eye colors because you can always either play it up by packing more eyeshadow, or warm it down by putting on less initially. Without further ado, here are what I used :)

Face/Base

  • Benefit the POREfessional primer
  • Yves Saint Lauret Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation
  • NYX Above & Beyond Coverage concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

Eyes

  • Em Cosmetics Shade Play in Bali Bronzes
    • Shade 1 on the inner corner, shades 2+3 on centre of eyelids and 4 on the outer V. Blend appropriately to ensure that there are no harsh edges.
  • Shu Eumura eyelash curler
  • Maybelline The Rocket mascara
  • Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner in Deep Black
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony

Lips

  • NYX soft matte lip cream in Prague

Brush

(Right to left)
  • Sigma F82 round kabuki brush [to apply foundation]
  • Sigma F30 large powder brush [to set foundation with powder]
  • Sigma E40 tapered blending brush [to blend eyeshadows]
  • Sigma E55 eyeshading brush [to apply eyeshadows]

When all is put together....

I hope this post helped you in a way or another. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them down below in the comments section! Thank you for reading!

Review - NYX Ibiza.

Most people know that NYX makes one of the best makeup products. Not only that, they're affordable too! One of my favorite product from NYX is their soft matte lip creams. It's pigmented, the consistency is somewhat creamy but it dries matte. Also, it smells amazing like...cupcakes. To date, I have this product in four shades. Today, I'm going to show you the shade Ibiza, a pink/muted rose gold shade with a bit of coral-y hint to it.

Since it dries matte, be sure to moisturise your lips prior to applying it to ensure that it stays on beautifully. Hope this post helped you!

  • NYX Full Coverage Concealer

  • Cosmetics Shade Play in Tokyo Palette [1+2 on the inner most eye corner, 3 on the middle of the lids and 4 on the outer lid. Blend properly to ensure that there are no harsh lines]
  • Physician's Formula purple gel eyeliner

Brows
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony

Cheeks
  • Sleek Make Up "Blush by 3" in Pink Lemonade [centre, cream one]

Brushes
  • Real Techniques buffing brush [foundation]
  • Real Techniques deluxe crease brush [concealer]
  • Real Techniques base shadow brush [eyeshadows]
  • Real Techniques pixel-point eyeliner brush [eyeliner]

Lips
  • NYX soft matte lip cream in Ibiza

Here's the finished look with everything aforementioned put together :)

Decided to call this look Purple Line because I was coincidentally listening to DBSK/TVXQ's music called Purple Line.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and here's to a good one ahead!

First post - Essentials

After contemplating on creating a blog dedicated to my interest in makeup for the longest time, I finally got around to do it! First and foremost, the name's Gladys and hence, blog name being Gladyator. Just because.

As the very first post *throws confetti in the air*, I've decided to dedicate it to one of my makeup essentials. Drum roll please!

Face: Benefit's the POREfessional, Make Up Forever HD foundation and L'Oréal Lucent Magique highlighting pen.

Eyes: Sephora's Prêt-à-Porter Color Collection [brown palette], Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner in Black Ink.

Brushes: Sigma F80 flat kabuki brush, Sigma E60 large shader brush and a smaller, travel-friendly Sigma E05 eyeliner brush (which came as a free gift when I ordered from Sigma's official website).

I love Sephora's Prêt-à-Porter Color Collection because of its unique packaging. It actually looks like a small cupboard with drawers that can be pulled out and these so-called drawers are actually palettes, like the brown one in the picture above. I'll probably be talking more about this product because it. is. awesome.!.

There you go, one of my makeup essentials! If you made it this far, thank you for reading! Feel free to add any comments below if you have any.
